I have been a patient at Bend + Mend since July 2004. Initially I came for treatment to my neck and upper back. However, when the pilates practice started in 2006, I was encouraged to try pilates as a way to self manage my pain. I have been an advocate of pilates ever since and try to participate in 2-3 classes a week. The pilates classes at Bend + Mend are personalised and therefore unlike any pilates classes I have been to at other fitness centres. At Bend + Mend the pilates instructors are the physiotherapists, so they have an intimate knowledge of my history and are able to create a program to specifically suit my needs. As a result of doing pilates, I now need only intermittent physiotherapy treatment. I am also much stronger and more fit than I have ever been before!
