Women's HealthThe Pelvic Organ Prolapse Quantification System (POP-Q) was established in 1996 and continues to be used in clinical practice to quantify the severity of Pelvic Organ Prolapse. There are 5 stages of Pelvic Organ Prolapse which include:

Stage 0 = No prolapse

No prolapse is demonstrated.

Stage 1 = Prolapse inside the vagina

Most descended point is still more than 1cm above the hymen.

Stage 2 = Prolapse at the entrance of the vagina

Most descended point is within 1cm of the hymen. This means that the most descended point can be within 1cm internally or externally.

Stage 3 = Prolapse outside the vagina

Most descended point is more than 1cm beyond the hymen.

Stage 4 = Full Organ eversion

Complete eversion of the total length of the associated vaginal wall.
