Patient Of The Month For April

Our Patient of the month for April is Will Walker, who we have been seeing at Bend + Mend for many years and hopefully many more!

From Will: “I’ve been coming to Bend and Mend for quite a number of years, about 10, and doing Pilates for at least 7 of those. Pilates is something that you end up loving and loathing… well I do, but one thing I have found out is that it is a “must do” and becomes quite addictive. Now I am not sure if it is the Pilates teaching or whether it’s the quality of the instruction and the friendliness that exudes every time you take a class.

I have a habit of sometimes not turning up to Pilates, but when I do, I feel at home! It’s like a family! Whilst bending and stretching and undertaking certain positions, not normally associated with normal life, you can be at ease with your fellow participants and instructors and get more core strength and better posture.

In short, the biggest benefit of Pilates is the mental fortitude and calmness that you gain from the team that Fiona, Mark and Kel have put together and the results they produce.

I can do one sit up now. 7 years. Wow!”

And from Fiona: “Will has been a patient of ours practically since we have been open. It’s been a very long relationship (since 2004 actually) and we have helped him through many injuries.

His Type A personality and his need for a quick fix has had to be curtailed as he has realised that he needed to change the way he exercised, and incorporate our Pilates. Will has managed to see most of our Physiotherapists so he is well known and liked by all here at Bend + Mend! He added in Bend + Mend Pilates to his exercise regime in 2008 and has found it to be very enjoyable.

Will is a keen runner, cyclist and now a Pilates advocate. He likes to impress his friends when he’s at the pub and show off by doing side planks for a minute or so.

He has become one of our most advanced Pilates patients, performing death-defying manoeuvres on the trapeze and reformers.

We have enjoyed having Will being part of our practice and his good humour keeps everyone laughing! We hope to continue the relationship well into the future and keep him exercising pain-free! Thanks Will!
